Ingredients

  • Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno peppers    :- 450 grams
  • All-purpose flour    :- 1 cup / 220 grams
  • Red pepper, ground    :- 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Bread crumbs, fine, dry    :-1 cup
  • Parsley, dried    :- 1 teaspoon
  • Eggs, beaten    :- 4
  • Vegetable oil

Garnish

  • Parsley chopped

Accompaniment

  • Marinara sauce

Preparation

  1. Cut cheese crosswise into 3/4-inch slices. Lay slices flat and cut in half lengthwise.
  2. Combine flour and red pepper and mix well.
  3. Combine bread crumbs and parsley in another bowl and stir well.
  4. Dip cheese sticks in beaten eggs then in flour mixture, repeat the process and dip coated cheese in egg again and then in bread crumb mixture again, pressing firmly so that crumbs adhere.
  5. Place cheese sticks on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 60 minutes.
  6. Fry cheese sticks in 190 degree C deep oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Transfer gently to serving dish, garnish with parsley chopped, accompany with marinara sauce and serve hot.
